Wonderful time with Grma and Grpa Summy in Iowa!

Mayday! Mayday! the Summys are coming!
So, we have established new block tradition, the May Day basket. Ever since Joel and I dated he would talk about this May1 holiday tradition on Post Rd in IC and truly, had NO IDEA what he was babbling about. After today, so much fun, so so cute with kids, now I get it!
Joel was sorely disappointed when ringing doorbell that many neighbors were not home to "catch them". As he says, the idea is hang the basket on the knob, ring bell, and run away "so as not to get kissed".
Our baskets were paper cones the kids had painted with utmost dedication and care, they were really good! and filled with a cup various popcorn flavors and hershey kisses, and a tulip from our garden. In all the excitement to get going, one of Otto's cups spilled all over our walkway, so now the squirrels and rabbits have May Day too.
They are out making another round of doorbell ringing.

We made stepping stones, though Otto's fell completely apart and had to remake concrete next day.
Today working on "May baskets" which Summy sibs did when they were younger in IC. Hang a basket of flowers and treats on neighbors doors. We made paper cones, which kids painted, and will put together some tissue-paper flowers, and some candy...Joel will deliver them to the neighbors on the street tonight. cute cute idea of Joel's!
